Library Clerk -- Part-time, year-round position-- Pauline Haass Public Library

The Pauline Haass Public Library is seeking two individuals to serve our community through work directly with customers at the Check Out Desk (Circulation). The successful candidates will have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED; have up-to-date basic Windows and Internet skills; truly enjoy providing excellent customer service; show strong attention to detail; possess a strong work ethic; enjoy and embrace change; be comfortable with independent decision making; project a cheerful, friendly outlook; show curiosity; take initiative; work diplomatically with others; be a team player; seek always to improve his or her value to the library and the library’s value to the community, and desire to be an active participant in this organization.

Circulation work involves greeting and assisting customers; checking out and checking in materials; answering and routing telephone calls for all departments; working with customers to collect late fees and damages; and assuring that materials are returned to the shelves in a timely manner. This work requires a great deal of standing time, in addition to the qualities listed above. 

The Library Clerk position averages 15 hours/week. Schedule includes daytime, evening and weekend hours (see below). Flexibility is needed to cover for coworkers’ vacations or illness.

Children’s Library Associate II (Part-time) at Waukesha Public Library


Waukesha Public Library is seeking a dynamic and creative team member who enjoys working with children and the adults who serve and care for them. The ideal candidate for this 20-23 hour per week position must be dedicated to outstanding customer service, enjoy sharing the love of children’s literature with others and be comfortable using computers and other technology. Responsibilities include program planning and implementation, community outreach, readers’ advisory, reference services and assisting with collection development.


This is an opportunity to work in a beautiful, vibrant children’s space and to be part of an energetic and innovative team. The Library is located in the City of Waukesha, about 20 miles west of Milwaukee, WI. It is the resource library for a strong public library system. The city boasts a historic downtown, a growing business community, an established art scene and is a five-time winner of the America’s Promise Alliance 100 Best Communities for Young People award.


This position requires graduation from a four-year college or university and at least two years of relevant experience.  Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working with children, knowledge of children’s literature and child development, an interest in emerging technologies, and Spanish language proficiency.


The schedule includes weekdays, evenings and weekends. The starting wage is $19.53 per hour.
