Services For Member Libraries
Fee-Based Reference Materials On The Web
WCFLS negotiates the purchase of and partially funds online reference resources shared by member libraries. This cooperative arrangement saves member libraries thousands of dollars if they were to purchase these databases individually.
Materials from other libraries in the county, state or nation are available to Waukesha county residents at their local library. The library will make the request, and Waukesha County Federated Library System (WCFLS) van delivery will bring the items requested to the local library.
Public libraries in Waukesha County offer access to the World Wide Web using a high speed connection to the Internet provided to each library through grant funds awarded to WCFLS.
Questions requiring research or special resources can be referred by local libraries to the System's reference service. Responses are sent back to the local library.
Children in Waukesha County share the excitement of special WCFLS-sponsored programs provided by professional storytellers and performers.
Home Delivery Services
WCFLS recruits volunteers to deliver materials from member libraries to people who cannot get to the library. This county-wide program is available to individuals who are confined to their homes due to illness, age, disability or other special need.
Improving Services at Your Library
WCFLS has a range of activities especially designed to improve services at its member libraries.
WCFLS grants bring additional books, videos, CD's, e-books, computers, high speed connections to the internet, and other library materials and equipment to local libraries.
Continuing education workshops and meetings on library topics are sponsored by WCFLS to help members' library staff and board members keep up with developments in the library field. WCFLS personnel work one-on-one with library staff whenever individualized professional help is needed.
WCFLS provides assistive equipment to your library for people with visual or hearing needs.
